SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA

A World Heritage Site since 1985, Santiago de Compostela has been attracting visitors and pilgrims for centuries from all across the world. It is the most cosmopolitan city in Galicia, but it takes it all in its stride. That’s why you will feel at home from the moment you arrive. Everything you need is here.

Santiago de Compostela

Santiago is better understood from above, as it simultaneously becomes both more real and more mythical. On the roof of the Cathedral, we can see la Cruz dos Farrapos, a cross beneath which medieval pilgrims would burn the clothes they wore while completing the camino, an act which was a kind of purification ritual. It is also the best place to appreciate the different construction phases of the church and the various architectural styles used to achieve the final lavish result.
